Sticky Toffee Pudding
This is a Vegetarian dish

Ingredients:
- 2oz margerine
- 6oz castor sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 6 oz dates
- 4 oz self raising flour
- 4 oz wholemeal flour
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- ½ pint boiling water
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
For Sauce:
- 4oz butter
- 8 oz light brown sugar
- ½ pint double cream
Equipment:
- Metal dish app: 9" x 7" x 2"
- Moderate oven (GM 3 to 4)

Cooking time: 1hour
Sticky Toffee Pudding
This is a fabulous recipe for a very indulgent Sticky Toffee Pudding. If you've been lucky enough to have been on one of our Walking Holidays when this was served you'll definitely remember it!
Cooking Instructions:
- Place dates & bicarbonate of soda in boiling water and leave to soak, preferably overnight.
- Cream marge & sugar, beat in the egg and vanilla essence. Add flour & date mixture. Mix well.
- Pour into lightly greased metal dish and bake in moderate oven for 40 - 45 mins.till firm to touch.
- Make sauce - melt butter over low heat add sugar and stir till dissolved. Add cream and simmer for 4-5 mins.
- Take cake from oven, prick sponge all over with fork before pouring on the sauce, spoon around to encourage it to soak into sponge. Return to oven for 5 mins. Serve hot. Enjoy.
