Mallaig and the small Isles

Mallaig, a small west coast fishing village, is the perfect base for trips out to the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna, the "Misty Isle of Skye" and the "Rough Bounds of Knoydart".

Suitable for:

Any holiday which finishes at, or returns via, Fort William.

Also there are public transport links from Inverness for holidays returning via there.

Accommodation:

3 nights guest house accommodation (alternatives available) with breakfasts included.

Included Transport:

  • Scenic West Highland Railway journey from Fort William to Mallaig on day 1.
  • Railway journey from Mallaig back to Glasgow Queen Street station on day 4 arriving 15:44hrs. Alternatively there is an afternoon train that will get you to Glasgow at 21:25hrs.

Things to See and Do:

2 full days in Mallaig allow for any of the following possibilities:

  • Day trip to one of the small isles of Rum, Eigg, Canna or Muck with time ashore
  • Small Isles non-landing cruise
  • Ferry trip across Loch Nevis to Inverie on the remote Knoydart Peninsula
  • Ferry to Armadale on the Isle of Skye and onward bus journey to other parts of Skye
  • Take the train or bus back to Arisaig and explore the coast line
