Barra and Vatersay Self Guided Extension

The island of Barra is only 5 miles wide and 8 miles long. The neighbouring island of Vatersay is linked by causeway. The culture is very different and the scenery is stunning.

Suitable for:

Adding to the end of our Outer Hebrides guided holiday. On day 1, you will leave teh group at Loch Boisdale to travel by post bus and the lunchtime ferry to Castlebay on Barra.

Accommodation:

3 nights guest house accommodation (alternatives available) with breakfasts included.

Included Transport:

  • Postbus from Loch Boisdale to Eriskay on day 1
  • Ferry from Eriskay to Barra on day 1
  • Bus from Barra ferry to Castlebay on day 1
  • Morning ferry journey from Barra to Oban via South Uist on day 4
  • Evening train from Oban to Glasgow Queen Street on day 4 arriving 21:25hrs.

Things to See and Do:

2 1/2 days on Barra allow ample time for:-

  • Exploring both Barra and the neighbouring island of Vatersay. There are regular bus services serving most parts of the island.
  • Activities available locally include, cycle hire, sea kayaking, boat trips, golf and of course walking.
  • Wildlife watching
  • Relaxing

You may add additional nights, tickets, journeys should you wish. Eg. You may wish to return to Glasgow by plane from the Traigh Mhor airport (on e beach). Just let us know and we’ll give you a quote.

NB. There is always a slight possibility on trips involving ferries that severe weather conditions will prevent a scheduled sailing. However unlikely that may be on this trip, it may not be possible to keep to the planned timings. Any additional expenses incurred through changes in the ferry schedule will not be met by C-N-Do.
