Highlands and Islands Discoveries

Though Scotland is a small country, the rich diversity of landscapes and natural beauty requires time to explore and discover each region or island. Here's a grand mix of locations to savour - to spend time walking, exploring and discovering, seeing and sensing all that combines to form the rhythm of nature and the cultural heritage of the Scots.

New holidays for 2008 include Cairngorms Winter Explorer,National Parks Explorer, Shetland Isles and Small Isles Explorer.

Cairngorms Peaks and Passes
Grade:Grade 4

The Cairngorms National Park is the largest and wildest in the UK. Our walk takes us by ancient hill tracks and drove routes, and through the heartland of the Cairngorms, forming the largest area of high ground in Scotland, renowned for wildlife and expansive landscapes.

Cairngorms Winter Explorer
Grade:Grade 2

Walking in soft snow, jumping in drifts, following animal tracks; all possibilities from our Highland village base in the Cairngorms National Park.

Cape Wrath and the North West Highlands
Grade:Grade 3

Between Ullapool, the atttractive fishing and Ferry port, and Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point of the mainland, lies a unique corner of Scotland. The scenery here is like nothing you have ever seen before!

Highland New Year
Grade: Grade 1 Grade 2 Grade 3 Grade 4 (Daily Choice of walks)

Located in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, our base bear Callander is perfect for daily choice of walks in this fantastically varies landscape; easy glens, forests and loch sides to rolling hills and high mountain tops. Evening diversions include a C~N~Do Ceilidh!

Mull, Iona & Ulva
Grade:grade 2-grade 3

Wildlife watching opportunities abound within the hugely diverse land and seascapes of Mull, Iona and Ulva. From quiet coasts and glens to the highest top (Ben More) we'll find a range of great walking, wildlife and wilderness.

National Parks Explorer
Grade:Grade 1-Grade 2

You couldn't get two more different National Parks than the 'Loch Lomond and the Trossachs' and the 'Cairngorms' ones, but yet united in the variety of their landscapes, habitats, lifestyles and objectives.

Orkney Isles
Grade:grade 1

Relaxed walking, clear air, a friendly ambience and a culture that is different, leave you refreshed and exhilirated. There are chances within the walking days to visit many of the archaeological sites for which the Orkneys are famous!

Outer Hebrides
Grade:grade 2

Starting with Lewis and ending with Eriskay, we explore the islands and expereince a fascinating way of life. Starting by staying in a traditional thatched cottage sets the scene to enjoy beahes to die for, wide Hebridean skies, tweed making and Gaelic, history at every turn, a sense of space and time for reflection.

Road to the Isles
Grade:Grade 2

Great selection of wilderness treks between Rannoch and the Isle of Skye give an insight into the cattle droving days of old. Awesome landscapes, wildlife galore.

Shetland Isles
Grade:Grade 2

A terrific mixture of dramatic scenery but with plenty of quiet corners, thousands of sea birds but the time to watch just one, seals, otters and whales and every chance of seeing them.

Small Isles Explorer
Grade:Grade 2

A small group of islands with tremendous diversity, from peaceful tranquillity, through surprisingly colourful, to dramatically rugged.
